‘Its too hard to write about myself or my family. I don’t know where to start and I have too much information.’ Do you feel this way?  Don’t despair.

Each Friday we will add another question that will help you explore your life and your ancestors. Don’t worry about grammar or spelling just get the words down on paper. You will be surprised at what you will learn and how your story will grow. You can add pictures or newspaper information it’s up to you.

Start with yourself. Grab a notebook or open a word document and start with the basics. Name, date of birth, place of birth, the name of parents. Write these in your book it will be the same for each person you research. Start with what you know and work back. If you want to add a bit more, ask more questions.

You are the beginning of your family history. Start with you self and ask these questions? What is your full name? Do you know why you were given that name? Do you have a baptismal name? A confirmation name? Why were these names chosen?
